Read our frequently asked questions below.

  • Q: What do F1, F1b and F1BB mean?

A: F1 means the dog is a first-generation doodle, or 50% poodle. F1b means the dog is a second-generation doodle and 75% poodle. F1BB means the dog is a third-generation doodle or 87.5% poodle. Most of the time the dog’s appearance will reflect this, but just like humans, it’s not uncommon for a puppy to favor one parent over the other in appearance and genetic test findings.

  • Q: Are these dogs hypoallergenic?

A: Doodles are generally hypoallergenic with little to no shedding. A common misconception is that all dogs that shed aren’t hypoallergenic. However, human allergies to dogs relate to hair, saliva and dander. People who are allergic to hair can reduce the risk of a reaction by maintaining a high-quality diet for their dog and bathing and grooming it frequently. People who react to saliva should not own any dog breed. We recommend people allergic to dander opt for F1BB doodles.

  • Q: How much will the dog shed?

A: The amount of shedding from a doodle depends on diet, water quality, stress and allergies. Shedding isn't impacted by the curliness of a doodle’s coat. All doodles will shed their puppy coat until the adult coat develops.

  • Q: Are the parents healthy?

A: All adult dogs in the program are tested for health or genetic problems. We have them monitored by a professional vet staff. Our genetics program is the result of nearly eight years of breeding doodles, and it is our intellectual property.

  • Q: What is the temperament of the parents?

A: All parents in our program have a bright and calm disposition. It isn’t uncommon for parents in our program to have numerous awards, titles or accolades from showings and obedience competitions.

  • Q: What is a guardian home?

A: A guardian home is a person, or people, who agree to raise and care for a breeder’s dog as a loved family pet for the duration of their breeding career. Guardian homes are used by breeders to ensure their breeding animals have happy, healthy lives.
